Goin’ Home
There is something cathartic about watching someone do what they do best, to be so clearly in their element. In this case it is Conner Coffin carving apart the Queen of the Coast, respectfully.
It’s a bit of a paradox, watching Conner slice up the wave that so clearly had so much influence on building his own style.
Whatever mystical lesson you might try to pull out of it, in the end it is just refreshing to see good clean powerful turns on a wave that is just up the road from many millions of southern californians. It’s obtainable, these are turns just like ours, just way better.
And when the surf goes flat Conner escapes to what is quickly becoming his second home, the Channel Islands bordering the edge of the Southern California Bight. Rugged uninhabited, but teeming with life under the water. The perfect blend of solitude and adventure.
